Material Options
316L as standard: PP, PVDF, PTFE and hardened steels for the duties where stainless is the wrong answer.
Material is matched to the fluid and temperature, not to the price list. The table below is the starting point; the final call is confirmed against your water chemistry and process temperature.
| Material | Typical duty | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 303 / 304 SS | General water, mild process | Watch chlorides above ~200 ppm at temperature |
| 316L SS | Process water, food, chlorides | Standard for most industrial spray duties |
| PP | Acids, plating baths, low pressure | ~80 °C limit, chemical resistance good |
| PVDF | Aggressive chemicals, higher temperature | ~150 °C, excellent chemical resistance |
| PTFE | Most aggressive media | ~260 °C, near-universal resistance |
| Hardened SS / alloys | Abrasive or erosive water | Wear life over 316L for particulates |
Corrosion is the slow failure. The orifice erodes, flow climbs and the pattern drifts. Abrasion is the fast one. Both are prevented at the spec stage by matching the material to the actual duty.
Send the fluid, concentration, temperature and pressure. The material recommendation comes back with the nozzle size.
